Job Description
The role involves architecting and leading the development of Samsara's data infrastructure, including large-scale data streaming systems, serverless compute platforms, and external APIs, to enable real-time insights and AI-driven solutions for physical operations across various industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect the data nervous system for physical operations, developing the core data pipeline for AI initiatives.
- Own the strategy and architecture for the serverless compute platform to enable complex logic on data streams.
- Lead the technical vision and governance for external APIs to ensure consistency and scalability across products.
- Mentor senior engineers and drive technical alignment on complex systems.
- Define the multi-year technical roadmap for the developer platform in collaboration with product leadership and enterprise customers.
Requirements
- Proven impact architecting and operating large-scale data streaming systems.
- Experience building and scaling Kafka systems in production.
- Strong understanding of data and AI architecture, including connecting Kafka, data lakes, and ML infrastructure to unlock new intelligence.
- Pragmatic expertise in serverless compute, including designing architectures that are powerful for developers and efficient to operate.
- Experience owning public-facing APIs, establishing technical vision and governance to enable an entire ecosystem of developers to build with confidence.
- Demonstrated ability to align multiple engineering teams around a complex technical vision and drive it from concept to customer delivery.
- Technical depth and clarity of thought to elevate the engineers you work with.
