Job Description
The role involves managing the development, prototyping, and mass production of hardware devices by coordinating with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure high-quality, timely delivery of products that support Samsara's connected operations platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute hardware schedules and engineering builds (EVT, DVT, PVT).
- Manage day-to-day activities of JDM partners, including design, build, validation, and reliability testing.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with software, hardware, product management, and operations teams.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality devices by managing JDM and supplier relationships.
- Address issues during device builds to keep projects on track.
- Provide regular program status reports and communicate issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Align with operations on BOM costs and material availability.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience in hardware engineering program management, with proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects and factory build events.
- Solid organizational skills including attention to details, prioritization, and triage of issues.
- Adaptive attitude for a rapidly-evolving industry.
- Proven record of driving cross-functional teams toward shared goals.
- Self-motivated, proactive, creative, and critical problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to support international travel for JDM discussions and build events.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering-related field such as electrical, mechanical, or computer science.
- Experience with project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or related tools.
- Experience with tools like JIRA and Confluence for project summaries and issue tracking.
- Strong communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
- Experience with dash camera, gateway, or telematics products is a plus.
