Job Description
A senior engineering leadership role focused on driving architecture, product development, and innovation within Samsara's Connected Operations Cloud, leveraging AI and IoT technologies to improve physical operations across various industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional projects between Smart Trailers and Connected Equipment teams based on business needs
- Drive major architectural and product capability improvements, including leveraging AI and automation
- Collaborate with firmware and hardware teams to optimize system performance and energy consumption
- Mentor engineering team members on system design, lifecycle, and failure modes
- Partner with management to maintain technical health and balance long-term strategy with customer needs
- Engage directly with customers to understand pain points and develop solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 12 years of experience in software design and development, with at least 4 years in an architect or leadership role.
- Technical independence to define what should be done and push through hurdles to complete it without waiting for instructions.
- Expertise in writing high-quality, maintainable code in a modern programming language, with demonstrated ability to use AI tools such as Cursor, LLMs, etc., to multiply output.
- Proven experience working with web services at massive scale deployed on Cloud providers such as AWS or Azure.
- Excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to manage complex technical discussions with stakeholders across Legal, Hardware, and Product teams.
- Experience building and shipping a 0-1 product from scratch and scaling it into a mature business driver.
- Fully transitioned to an AI-native workflow to code at the speed of thought.
- Experience influencing a company’s product and infrastructure strategy at the corporate level.
- Enjoyment in leading engineers to think about systems, their life cycles, edge cases, and failure modes from the edge to the cloud.

Annual base salary range of $162,400 to $390,000 USD
