Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer responsible for developing, maintaining, and scaling the core platform infrastructure that powers Samsara's connected operations solutions, with a focus on creating customer-facing features and ensuring system reliability at a global scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, build, test, and deliver full-stack features across front-end, back-end, and mobile platforms.
- Maintain and support production systems owned by the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and prioritize platform development.
- Design and develop scalable, high-quality software systems.
- Mentor and guide fellow engineers to improve team technical skills.
- Ensure the platform provides operational support and stability.
- Contribute to building a positive team culture and promote core cultural principles.
Requirements
- 8 years of industry experience building and operating production software systems.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Go, Java, C++, or equivalent; Node.js is acceptable.
- Proficiency in building scalable and maintainable front-end applications using TypeScript and React, or similar component-based JavaScript frameworks.
- Experience designing and architecting large, high-scale systems.
- A focus on and desire to mentor fellow engineers.
- Ability to estimate, communicate, and deliver upon project milestones with your team.
- Experience with a public cloud such as AWS.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline.
