Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer at Samsara develops and maintains AI-powered safety and coaching products for fleet management, working on scalable full-stack solutions to improve driver safety and operational efficiency across various industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Solve complex problems and own the success of full-stack solutions from architecture to delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, product managers, designers, and support teams.
- Build and maintain scalable, AI-driven safety coaching products for fleet management.
- Ensure operational health and reliability of production systems.
- Utilize logs and metrics to troubleshoot and improve system robustness.
- Contribute to core architecture, product roadmap, and engineering community initiatives.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development.
- Experience shipping features that are used by customers and iterating on customer feedback to inform what to deliver next.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to collaborate, with the ability to explain why a solution is built a certain way and be open to suggestions from other engineers and stakeholders.
- A growth mindset and excitement around building new skills and expertise, with the ability to be a quick learner and operate with minimum supervision.
- Comfortable with building out end-to-end solutions, with a preference for front-end or back-end development, but willing to work across the full stack.
- Assist in maintaining the production systems your team owns and provide operational support when necessary.
- Utilize logs and metrics for tracking down and investigating bugs, ensuring the robustness and reliability of systems.
- Experience with taking large language model (LLM) systems to production is preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and contributing to an early-stage product is preferred.
- Experience with software technologies such as Go, GraphQL, Typescript, React, and AWS is a plus.
- Ability to contribute to the operational health of production systems and ensure their robustness and reliability.
