Job Description
The Senior Data Scientist will analyze and translate data into strategic insights to support operational and leadership decision-making, develop analytical models, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve Samsara's IoT-driven products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate data into strategic insights through reports, dashboards, and presentations to support decision-making.
- Build analytical models to identify patterns, anomalies, and root causes in data.
- Design and execute A/B tests and experiments to evaluate AI solutions.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand data structures and business priorities.
- Leverage SQL, Python, and R to shape, analyze, and manipulate data.
- Develop and maintain scalable models and automated data pipelines.
- Communicate trends and insights effectively to technical and leadership teams.
Requirements
- An advanced degree in Statistics or other quantitative field such as Applied Math, Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in a data-related role relevant to data science, data analysis, business analytics, or business intelligence.
- Proficiency in data manipulation and processing using SQL, Python, and/or R.
- Experience building statistical and other analytical models, preferably in Python or R.
- Ability to communicate trends and insights through data visualizations, including experience with Tableau.
- Ability to effectively share project statuses and take ownership of tasks while managing competing priorities.
- Ability to distill informal or ambiguous customer and business requirements into clear problem definitions.
- Proven ability to communicate verbally and in writing with technical peers and leadership teams with various levels of technical knowledge.
- Curiosity about the company's data and products, and enthusiasm to have an impact.
- Ability to build and scale models into automated pipelines.
- Experience working with large datasets using distributed computing technologies such as Spark or Hive.
