Job Description
A Sales Engineer at Samsara is responsible for supporting the technical pre-sales process by demonstrating and deploying IoT hardware and software solutions, building customer relationships, and collaborating with sales teams to close complex deals across various industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with sales executives to plan, prepare, and execute strategic deals in complex sales cycles.
- Match customer pain points and requirements to proposed solutions.
- Establish and build trust with customer relationships throughout and beyond the sales cycle.
- Deploy and install hardware for proof of concepts (POCs).
- Set up and configure SaaS dashboards, including advanced use and custom reporting via APIs.
- Mentor other Sales Engineers on technical knowledge, industry insights, and best practices.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systems in a maintenance environment.
- Navigate and sell complex solutions across multiple levels of the technology stack.
- Collaborate with product and customer teams to analyze requirements, prioritize features, and support deployments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- At least 4 years of selling experience in the enterprise space where you translated customer needs into successful sales outcomes
- Deep understanding of security, cloud software, automation, networking, and control systems
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systems in a maintenance shop environment
- Experience in selling complex solutions and navigating intricate customer evaluations and deployments
- Ability to analyze customer requirements, prioritize feature requests, and champion collaboration between customers and product teams
- Ability to develop compelling financial models and business justifications to support recommendations
- Experience leading complex projects and fostering a collaborative environment where stakeholders are empowered to achieve results
- Experience with APIs and/or scripting languages like Python
- Knowledge of technical enablement and knowledge sharing across teams
- Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Databricks Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow
- Experience with Routing, Navigation, Commercial Trucking Fleets, and Logistics industries
- Ability to support North American and European time zones
- Proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish and French
