Job Description

The Sales Engineer at Samsara is responsible for providing technical pre-sales support, demonstrating IoT hardware and software solutions, and building strong customer relationships to drive complex sales in industries reliant on physical operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with sales executives to plan, prepare, and execute strategic deals in complex sales cycles.
  • Match customer pain points and requirements to proposed solutions.
  • Establish and maintain customer relationships to build trust throughout and beyond the sales cycle.
  • Perform hardware deployment and installation for proof of concepts (POCs).
  • Set up and configure SaaS dashboards and enable advanced usage.
  • Create custom reports and integrations using APIs.
  • Mentor other Sales Engineers on the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support customer success and technical enablement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 4 years of selling experience in the enterprise software sales space where you translated customer needs into successful sales outcomes
  • Deep understanding of security, cloud software, automation, networking, and control systems
  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systems in a maintenance shop environment
  • Experience in selling complex solutions, navigating intricate customer evaluations and deployments
  • Ability to analyze customer requirements, prioritize feature requests, and champion collaboration between customers and product teams
  • Ability to develop compelling financial models and business justifications to support recommendations
  • Experience leading complex projects and fostering a collaborative environment where stakeholders are empowered to achieve results
  • Experience with APIs and/or scripting languages like Python
  • Experience with technical enablement and knowledge sharing across teams
  • Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Databricks Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow
  • Experience with Routing, Navigation, Commercial Trucking Fleets, and Logistics industries
  • Ability to support North American and European time zones
  • Proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish and French
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to work remotely within the Eastern Time Zone in the United States
