Job Description
A Sales Engineer at Samsara is responsible for supporting the sales team by providing technical expertise, demonstrating IoT solutions, assisting with product trials, and ensuring successful integration of hardware and software systems for customers across various industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Global Sales Team with technical inquiries and maintain an inbound question queue
- Support technical trials and convey the value of Samsara solutions to prospects
- Create software scripting solutions and integrations for proof of concepts
- Provide internal technical assistance and QA support for customer-related inquiries
- Produce and manage digital content for product learning, installation, and configuration
- Update and maintain hardware and software lab infrastructure
- Coordinate and participate in new product testing activities
- Gather and highlight industry-specific customer use cases for Samsara solutions
- Coordinate cross-functional communication to ensure prospect success and support processes
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems.
- Experience tinkering with hardware gadgets, sensors, or vehicles is a plus.
- Preferred 1 year of experience working with customers in a pre-sales or support capacity.
- Ability to develop a thorough understanding of IoT hardware and sensors, hands-on installation deployment scenarios, carrier networks, cloud infrastructure, and third-party system integrations via open API.
- Ability to assist the Global Sales Team with technical inquiries and tasks by monitoring and maintaining an inbound question queue.
- Ability to assist with technical trials across Samsara’s Sales Engineering team to convey the value of Samsara solutions within a prospect’s operation.
- Ability to create software scripting solutions and integrations to assist with technical proof of concepts.
- Ability to produce and manage digital content to assist with product learning, product adoption, hardware installation, and software configuration.
- Ability to update and manage internal hardware and software lab infrastructure, both in office and remote kits.
- Ability to coordinate and participate in new product testing activities.
- Ability to gather and highlight industry-specific customer use cases for Samsara solutions by working with technical sales teams.
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional communication to ensure prospect success, including RFP responses, Product Feature Request management, and Customer Support triaging.
- Willingness to work remotely within the specified geographic regions in the US excluding Alaska, California non-Bay Area, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Denver Metro CO, Boulder Metro CO, Chicago Metro IL, Austin Metro TX, Houston Metro TX, Dallas Metro TX, Seattle Metro WA, SF Bay Metros CA, NYC Metro NY, and Washington DC Metro.
