Job Description
A Sales Engineer at Samsara is responsible for demonstrating and implementing IoT solutions to customers, providing technical expertise, managing pilots and system integrations, and supporting sales efforts to drive digital transformation in physical operations industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop expertise in Samsara's IoT products and solutions.
- Articulate technical solutions to prospects based on their industry needs.
- Deliver work products such as demonstrations, value assessments, and presentations to facilitate deals.
- Write scripts using open APIs to solve real-world customer problems and document them for team use.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, supporting account integration, upselling, and cross-selling.
- Serve as a liaison between product and sales teams, providing technical feedback and enrolling customers in beta programs.
- Plan, prepare, and execute sales transactions in rapid sales cycles with sales partners.
- Lead and manage pilots from initiation through to successful completion and handover.
- Conduct on-site workshops and hardware installations.
- Build relationships with third-party partners like software providers and system integrators.
- Champion and embed company cultural principles focused on customer success, long-term building, and teamwork.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience working with customers in a pre-sales, customer success, or customer product support capacity.
- At least 3 years of sales experience.
- Ability to influence stakeholders based on technical sales acumen and a solid understanding of business processes and change management.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Previous experience managing hardware and/or software product evaluations.
- Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems.
- Experience with technical consulting, cloud software, cloud-connected hardware, computer networking, business systems integration, automation, and control systems.
- Fluent in German and English.
- Great time management and organizational skills to work on multiple accounts and projects at different stages.
- Location in Germany.
- Work experience in task automation scripting and transferring data between systems using Bash, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent language (preferred but not explicitly mandatory).
- Work experience building solutions leveraging open APIs (preferred but not explicitly mandatory).
- Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including Controller Area Networks (CAN bus) and Power Take Off (PTO) applications (preferred but not explicitly mandatory).
- Consistent track record of success selling complex technical solutions through strategic sales cycles.
- Knowledge of MEDDIC and/or Value Selling sales concepts.
- Experience working with product teams internally and feature request processes.
- Experience working with Data Privacy Officers (DPOs) and Workers councils, including proactively addressing data privacy concerns and articulating how solutions align with regulatory and organizational requirements.
