Job Description
The Engineering Manager at Samsara is responsible for leading and developing engineering teams focused on building scalable, mission-critical infrastructure and platform systems that support IoT products, with a focus on innovation, operational excellence, and customer impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop engineering teams through hiring, mentoring, and fostering professional growth.
- Define project plans, roadmaps, and collaborate on developing new platform technologies.
- Develop features and infrastructure enhancements to improve customer experience and product impact.
- Establish and maintain high standards of operational excellence for services and features.
- Contribute to shaping company culture by promoting leadership values and operating principles.
- Participate in strategic planning with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Drive technical strategy and set quarterly goals to prioritize product engineering efforts.
- Ensure the reliability and scalability of application services and infrastructure.
- Hire, develop, and lead a diverse, high-performing engineering team.
Requirements
- Experience building scalable, mission-critical SaaS applications.
- Experience operating, maintaining, and improving upon large-scale application services.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills including listening, speaking, and writing, and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment.
- Strong track record of delivering products and features that customers love.
- Proven record of attracting top talent and coaching the team.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant software engineering work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on technical management experience.
- Proficiency in English language skills.
- B.S. in Computer Science or related technical discipline (preferred but not mandatory).
- Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional consensus and drive cross-team collaboration.
