Job Description
A Sales Engineering leader at Samsara is responsible for building and managing a diverse team that delivers IoT-based solutions to customers across various industries, helping improve operational safety, efficiency, and sustainability through technical expertise, customer engagement, and strategic leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead a diverse, high-performing Sales Engineering team.
- Develop strategies and processes to scale the Sales Engineering organization.
- Engage in customer interactions to demonstrate IoT hardware, sensors, and cloud infrastructure solutions.
- Manage technical escalations related to product issues and feature requests.
- Support the installation, testing, and usage of hardware and IoT solutions for customers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver customer solutions and drive product development.
- Build and maintain relationships with external technology partners during complex sales cycles.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of sales and technical processes through feedback and automation.
Requirements
- A 4-year degree from an accredited university.
- At least 2 years of experience managing a technical team, ideally in a sales engineering capacity.
- Proven success in hiring, developing, and retaining diverse talent.
- Experience running scalable and consistent feedback loops to help the team debug processes, share knowledge, and advance toward their personal goals.
- Ability to construct scalable engagement models for the Sales Engineering team based on maximum impact in a sales cycle.
- Experience building processes and integrating software tools to measure team impact throughout the sales lifecycle.
- Experience aggregating and accurately conveying input from prospects that drives product development.
- Experience collaborating with internal cross-functional teams such as Product Management, Customer Success, Support, etc., to deliver results to customers.
- Success in managing relationships with external technology partners through complex sales cycles.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a must.
- Experience managing a technical team of remote employees, ideally in a sales engineering capacity (minimum 4 years).
- Experience leveraging in-house tooling combined with SaaS business systems to build robust Sales Engineering engagement models.
- Experience clearly defining roles and responsibilities through corporate change, including cross-functional team interactions and internal team growth.
- Work experience in task automation scripting and transferring data between systems using Bash, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent language.
- Work experience building solutions leveraging open APIs.
- Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including Controller Area Networks (CAN bus) and Power Take Off (PTO) applications.
- Hobbyist interest in working with electronic systems such as car audio installation, classic car restoration, home automation, or building with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, etc.
