Job Description
The role involves managing and leading compliance initiatives across various regulatory areas, supporting cross-functional teams, and ensuring adherence to trade, security, privacy, and other legal standards, primarily focusing on Mexico. The position requires strategic risk management, collaboration with external parties, and leveraging AI tools to improve compliance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, lead, and enhance compliance initiatives across the organization.
- Monitor and strategize regulatory compliance related to trade, tariffs, sanctions, and environmental obligations.
- Support cross-functional teams with guidance on technology compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Identify, assess, and manage compliance risks, implementing appropriate solutions.
- Oversee and report on compliance remediation efforts to ensure issues are resolved.
- Act as a trusted advisor on compliance matters, ensuring regulatory alignment.
- Apply AI tools to streamline compliance workflows and automate routine tasks.
- Collaborate with hardware compliance teams to maintain product certifications such as NOM, ANCE, NYCE.
- Partner with logistics and operations teams to manage import/export processes and liaise with customs authorities and third parties.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, International Trade, or a related field with a strong academic record.
- Proven experience in compliance management with at least 5 years of demonstrated experience, including a solid understanding of North America and international relations.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects with attention to regulatory details and the broad vision to bring large and multi-stepped projects to completion.
- Experience with compliance audits and acting as a liaison between the business and auditors during on-site activities, including successful experience managing and working with auditors.
- Clear, concise, and persuasive technical writing skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to business executives.
- Experience with risk assessment, project management, and compliance reporting, including investigating technical details, identifying risks, and proposing realistic solutions.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong working cross-functional relationships.
- Creative and analytical mindset with experience leveraging AI tools to enhance compliance workflows, drive efficiency, and implement scalable process improvements.
- At least 2 years of experience at a Big 4 audit firm and/or in-house compliance or risk management role.
- Working knowledge of EAR, OFAC, and AML regulations.
- Experience in compliance management related to trade, FCPA anti-bribery, government contracts, security, privacy, and Samsara’s own Code of Conduct and policies.
- Experience collaborating with hardware compliance teams to maintain certifications including NOM, ANCE, NYCE, etc.
- Experience partnering with logistics and operations teams to manage import-export processes, liaising with customs authorities, customs brokers, 3PL providers, and carriers when needed.
