The AI Engineer IV at Samsara is responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining AI-powered applications and solutions that enhance operational workflows across various industries, leveraging generative AI and machine learning technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Build, ship, and own end-to-end AI-powered applications from ideation to production deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
Architect and scale company-wide Generative AI capabilities and domain-specific business applications integrated into operational workflows.
Design and integrate AI solutions with internal systems and third-party platforms, including SaaS tools, APIs, and data platforms.
Develop and launch AI-powered solutions to enhance efficiency and personalization across various business functions.
Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to develop reliable, maintainable, and observable AI systems.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related Engineering discipline.
5 years of industry experience in software engineering or AI product development, including 3 years of experience owning the development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and support of web applications and backend APIs.
1 year of experience building and deploying production-ready Generative AI solutions, with responsibility for reliability and performance.
Strong expertise in Python and AI ML fundamentals, particularly Generative AI solutions such as Large Language Models (LLMs), vector databases, prompt engineering, embeddings, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
Experience with AI agent development frameworks and tooling such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, LlamaIndex, OpenAI SDK, MCP, and A2A.
Experience in 0-1 Minimum Viable Product (MVP) development, iterative prototyping, and evolving prototypes into production-grade systems.
Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices and active experimentation with and adoption of modern AI development tools and patterns.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional settings and translate business needs into technical solutions.
