A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for designing and developing heat battery systems to enable large-scale industrial decarbonization, involving system analysis, prototyping, manufacturing process development, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Translate product and subsystem requirements into technical specifications, conceptual designs, and detailed mechanical solutions.
Perform engineering analyses including thermal, mechanical, fluid flow, and structural assessments using 1D and 3D tools.
Design components and assemblies for manufacturability, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and field performance.
Develop and improve manufacturing processes, establish quality and inspection criteria, and support tooling, fixtures, and equipment development.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to iterate designs, resolve technical issues, and support supplier qualification.
Conduct prototyping, testing, data analysis, and risk assessments such as DFMEA.
Create engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation using CAD tools like SolidWorks.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
At least 5 years of mechanical engineering experience across relevant industries.
Proven ability to design and deliver hardware through full development cycles from requirements to production release.
Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, failure analysis, and iterative design.
Ability to perform engineering analyses in heat transfer, mass flow, structural mechanics, or related areas using 1D or 3D tools.
Fluency with SolidWorks and CAD best practices, including familiarity with GD&T and tolerance stack-ups.
Designing components and assemblies for manufacturability, scalability, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and field performance.
Preparing engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation using CAD and PLM tools, with SolidWorks preferred.
Supporting development of tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for manufacturing, integration, and testing.
Collaborating across engineering, product, and operations teams to drive rapid iteration and resolve technical issues.
Defining technical requirements for vendors and assisting with supplier qualification.
Contributing to cost models and cost-reduction initiatives through material, process, and design optimization.
Participating in design reviews and presenting engineering rationale, data, and options.
Executing engineering analyses such as thermal, mechanical, fluid mass flow, and structural analyses.
Ability to perform engineering analyses 1D or 3D across heat transfer, mass flow, structural mechanics, or related areas.
