Job Description
The Reliability Test Engineer will design, execute, and analyze tests for thermal and heat transfer systems used in industrial heat applications, ensuring system reliability and safety to support Rondo Energy's mission of decarbonizing industrial processes with innovative heat battery technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and commission custom test rigs for thermal and heat transfer systems
- Execute reliability testing such as accelerated life testing (ALT), highly accelerated life testing (HALT), and highly accelerated stress screening (HASS)
- Develop SCADA HMI screens and dashboards for custom equipment
- Write test automation code using Ignition, Python, or similar tools
- Integrate and calibrate process sensors for accurate thermal system testing
- Analyze test data and generate reports for stakeholders
- Assist in developing reliability metrics and lifetime assessments of components and systems
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Thermal Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in operating test equipment and testing systems and components.
- Experience with low voltage control panel design and PLC programming.
- Familiarity with medium voltage and high voltage wiring and customized equipment.
- Proficiency in using standard laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, thermocouples, etc.
- Experience with different sensor types and data acquisition systems.
- Knowledge of good laboratory practices (GLP) with operating and handling materials involving electromechanical and high temperature applications.
- Familiarity with Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), reliability testing, and thermal systems testing methodologies.
- Strong understanding of heat transfer principles and thermal systems testing methodologies.
- Ability to analyze test data and provide reports to key stakeholders.
- Ability to develop reliability metrics and conduct lifetime assessments.
- Experience with designing, building, and commissioning custom test rigs and fixtures for mechanical, electrical, and thermal testing.
- Experience with performing and operating tests for accelerated life testing (ALT), highly accelerated life testing (HALT), and highly accelerated stress screening (HASS).
- Experience in developing SCADA Human-Machine Interface (HMI) screens and dashboards for custom equipment.
- Ability to write test automation code using Ignition, Python, or similar programming languages.
- Experience in integrating and calibrating process sensors such as temperature, heat flux, and power measurement sensors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail in testing and validation.
