The Test Engineering Lead at Redwood Materials is responsible for building and managing testing infrastructure for high-power electromechanical battery products, including developing test procedures, leading a team, and supporting product validation and manufacturing processes in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
Build, validate, and support testers for high-power electromechanical products in validation and high-volume manufacturing.
Design and develop test procedures, fixtures, and infrastructure balancing coverage, speed, and cost.
Lead, manage, and develop a test engineering team to achieve project goals and support product lifecycle.
Collaborate with product teams to ensure effective testing strategies and infrastructure.
Requirements
7 years of technical experience in mechanical, electrical, software, or related product design engineering, not necessarily in test engineering.
Comfort with high-voltage 400-2000VDC, and 480VAC products.
Personal technical expertise in at least one aspect of test engineering, such as designing test fixtures, electrical cabinets, or software infrastructure for testers.
Experience developing tools, infrastructure, and design practices for a growing team.
Strong leadership and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with all levels of the organization and presenting to internal and external executives.
Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time.
Ability to perform essential physical requirements such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing.
Availability to work occasional weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job.
Willingness to undertake occasional travel as required.
