Job Description
This role involves designing and overseeing the end-to-end production of Planet's satellite constellation, including electrical system design, schematic capture, validation, and integration, to support the company's mission of Earth observation and data collection from space.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for satellite subsystems, including analog, power, thermal, and mixed signal components.
- Create schematics, perform signal integrity simulations, and review layout designs for electrical components.
- Design harnesses, select components, and coordinate with mechanical engineering for integration and fabrication drawings.
- Oversee validation and qualification testing of electrical designs, including EMI/EMC and interoperability assessments.
- Support manufacturing and systems teams in integrating electrical subsystems into satellite hardware.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace, or a related field
- 6 years of experience in taking designs from schematics to manufacturing
- Experience with power, analog, and mixed signal PCB design
- Experience with Altium tools for PCB design
- Experience using lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters
- Excellent solder rework skills
- Experience with embedded systems and peripheral interfaces such as I2C, SPI, USB, CAN, Ethernet, etc.
- Ability to make decisions regarding design and implementation
- This position requires access to export-controlled information, and employment or hiring of a contractor is contingent upon the candidate's ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls

Salary range: $162,600 - $203,200 USD (dependent on experience, skills, and location)
