Job Description
The Manufacturing Test Infrastructure Lead Engineer at Redwood Materials is responsible for designing, developing, and scaling testing systems and processes for battery products in manufacturing, leading a team, and collaborating across mechanical, electrical, and software domains to ensure robust product validation and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale manufacturing test systems, tools, and processes for product validation
- Develop and implement manufacturing field testers for electromechanical products
- Collaborate with firmware and hardware teams to develop test coverage and define metrics
- Debug and troubleshoot issues in manufacturing testing processes
- Design and develop manufacturing test hardware, including functional and system power tests
- Lead tester builds and validation efforts such as GRR and SAT
- Work with software teams to develop test automation, self-test, and data analysis tools
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- 6 years of technical experience in manufacturing test engineering or a related role
- Demonstrated experience as a design-oriented test engineer developing test equipment deployed directly on manufacturing lines
- Experience building, scaling, and leading an engineering team
- Experience working with high-voltage systems 400-2000VDC and 480-800VAC
- Deep technical expertise in at least one aspect of test engineering, with comfort working across disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and software
- Experience working in a high volume manufacturing environment
- Direct experience with battery testers or characterization tools
- Experience developing scalable tools, infrastructure, and design practices for test engineering teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels, including executives
- Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully in environments that may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
- Willingness to work in challenging working conditions which may include noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, with PPE
- Physical ability to perform essential functions such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing
- Availability to work occasional weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job
- Willingness to undertake occasional travel as needed
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $166,000 - $224,000 USD
Work schedule: Occasional work on weekends, nights, or on-call; occasional travel as needed
