Job Description

Redwood Materials is seeking a DevOps Engineer to design, build, and manage infrastructure and applications in a hybrid AWS and Kubernetes environment, supporting the company's battery recycling and energy storage initiatives through automation, monitoring, and deployment pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy infrastructure and applications in AWS and Kubernetes environments.
  • Operationalize workloads in AWS and Kubernetes, including designing monitoring solutions and deployment pipelines.
  • Automate infrastructure and deployment processes using infrastructure-as-code tools such as CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
  • Manage and support AWS resources and Kubernetes clusters, including containerization and Helm chart deployment.
  • Perform root cause analysis of production errors and resolve technical issues.
  • Collaborate with on-premises teams on hybrid infrastructure projects.
  • Create and maintain system architecture diagrams and detailed design documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a DevOps engineer or in a similar software engineering role developing solutions in AWS.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing Kubernetes workloads.
  • Solid knowledge and experience with AWS services including IAM, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, VPC, DynamoDB, etc.
  • Experience configuring and managing Kubernetes clusters, developing helm charts, building containers, and working with Docker.
  • Experience automating AWS solutions using infrastructure-as-code tools such as CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
  • Fluency in Python programming language.
  • Proficiency with Linux operating systems and Git version control.
  • Understanding of security best practices and the ability to apply them appropriately.
  • Ability to manage production workloads, including debugging, monitoring, and alerting.

Benefits & Perks

Compensation/salary range: $168,500 - $276,000 USD
Work schedule: Infrequent night and weekend work if production systems are down; remote work with occasional 2-3 times a year travel to Reno area
Work environment perks: No formal on-call rotation, part of shared team responsibility
Additional benefits: Full-time position, compensation commensurate with experience
