Job Description
The Principal Consultant will lead the design, development, and operationalization of enterprise-scale knowledge graph solutions to enhance data understanding and decision-making for national security missions, focusing on complex systems architecture, data integration, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and evolve large-scale knowledge graph architectures that integrate distributed data sources across secure environments.
- Architect entity resolution pipelines and scalable data processing frameworks to ensure high performance and data integrity.
- Operationalize graph databases in production environments with a focus on auditability, resilience, and security.
- Translate government requirements into executable graph architectures aligned with mission outcomes.
- Design link analysis, network detection, and pattern identification solutions to support intelligence and operational users.
- Integrate graph analytics with NLP, machine learning, and advanced workflows for automated discovery and decision-making.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing guidance on knowledge graph design, implementation, and scalability.
- Lead data ingestion strategies and oversee migration or redesign of legacy graph models for performance and maintainability.
- Mentor engineers and analysts in graph modeling, query design, and system architecture.
- Ensure architectures comply with federal security standards and design systems that are auditable, resilient, and secure.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of both the technical substrate and the institutional gravity of defense environments.
- Experience architecting and operationalizing graph-based ecosystems across mission environments in national security and defense.
- Proficiency in designing and evolving large-scale knowledge graph architectures that integrate distributed data sources across secure environments, ensuring seamless interoperability and scalability.
- Ability to establish canonical data models aligned with real user requirements, analytic workflows, and mission priorities to enable mission-relevant insights.
- Experience architecting entity resolution pipelines using tools such as Senzing, along with scalable data processing frameworks like Databricks, Spark, and Delta Lake, to ensure high performance, lineage traceability, and data integrity.
- Experience operationalizing graph databases such as Neo4j in production environments with a focus on auditability, resilience, and security-by-design principles, supporting reliable and secure mission-critical operations.
- Ability to translate ambiguous government requirements into executable graph architectures that align technical implementation with mission intent and operational outcomes.
- Designing link analysis, network detection, and pattern identification solutions that support intelligence and operational users for deeper situational awareness and actionable insights.
- Integrating graph analytics with NLP, machine learning, and advanced analytic workflows to enable higher-order reasoning, automated discovery, and enhanced decision-making.
- Driving performance tuning, query optimization, and schema evolution to ensure scalability, efficiency, and adaptability as mission requirements expand and analytic complexity increases.
- Serving as a trusted technical advisor to senior government stakeholders, providing guidance on the design, implementation, and operationalization of knowledge graph solutions.
- Educating mission owners on the art and science of knowledge graphs, including key tradeoffs in modeling approaches, schema flexibility, and algorithmic application.
- Providing structured recommendations on roadmap development, scaling strategies, and long-term sustainability to enable resilient, mission-aligned graph capabilities.
- Leading data ingestion strategies across high-volume, multi-source environments to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure integration of datasets.
- Overseeing the migration, refactoring, or redesign of legacy graph models to improve performance, maintainability, and alignment with evolving mission requirements.
- Ensuring systems remain performant, resilient, and adaptable under increasing data volumes, analytic complexity, and expanding mission demands.
- Mentoring engineers and analysts in graph modeling, query design, and system architecture to build technical depth and ensure high-quality implementations.
- Establishing engineering standards, documentation protocols, and modeling best practices that promote maintainability, scalability, and operational success.
- Contributing to internal research and development efforts that advance graph technologies and analytic capabilities within national security contexts.
- Ensuring all architectures comply with federal security standards, including ATO processes, data handling requirements, access controls, and comprehensive logging.
- Designing and implementing systems that are auditable, resilient, and defensible, supporting transparency, operational continuity, and confidence in data security.
