The Engineering Manager will lead the engineering team in designing, developing, and overseeing renewable energy projects such as solar and storage systems, ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and successful project execution across multiple phases.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the engineering team in developing and executing solar and storage projects.
Manage performance assessments, resource allocation, and team workflows.
Analyze site parameters and perform technical evaluations to optimize system design.
Create permit and construction drawings that meet codes and standards.
Coordinate with third-party engineers and manage procurement documentation.
Supervise system installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
Review engineering design packages for compliance and quality.
Develop equipment specifications and scopes of work for procurement and construction.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil engineering.
At least 7 years of experience in engineering within the renewables industry.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership management role.
Expertise in solar plant equipment, including PV modules, racking systems, inverters, and electrical balance of plants.
Proficiency in analyzing site parameters, interconnection studies, and customer loads to determine optimal system sizing and configuration.
Experience conducting shading analysis, structural assessments, and electrical reviews to inform equipment selection and layout.
Ability to model proposed designs in PVsyst or similar tools to predict energy production and economic performance.
Experience in designing permit construction drawing sets that meet codes and client standards.
Ability to develop equipment specifications, bills of materials, and detailed scopes of work for procurement and construction.
Experience managing relationships with third-party engineering firms to ensure quality deliverables.
Ability to specify electrical protection, monitoring, and control schemes to meet utility and grid stability requirements.
Experience reviewing civil, structural, and electrical engineering design packages for compliance with technical specifications.
Experience providing technical supervision to contractors during system installations to ensure adherence to plans.
Ability to review shop drawings, inspect deliveries, and witness factory testing as needed.
Experience overseeing punch list inspections, testing, and commissioning of systems before final approval.
Ability to compile as-built drawings, operations manuals, warranty documentation, and other project closeout materials.
Experience responding to contractor RFIs, participating in construction meetings, and reviewing QA/QC documentation.
Willingness to travel up to 20%.
