Job Description
This role involves leading the development of market intelligence to guide product and go-to-market strategies in the enterprise storage, cloud, data platforms, and AI infrastructure sectors, using analytical models and strategic insights to influence executive decisions and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain market intelligence models, including TAM, SAM, SOM, and workload-specific forecasts.
- Develop comprehensive competitor dossiers and project future industry trends based on market signals.
- Conduct scenario planning using decision-tree or Monte Carlo simulations for disruptive market events.
- Translate market insights into strategic recommendations for product development, sales strategies, and executive communications.
- Establish and oversee the Market Intelligence operating cadence, including roadmap, deliverables, and data sourcing procedures.
Requirements
- Substantial understanding of competitive and domain dynamics within enterprise infrastructure, specifically storage architectures, data services, cloud economics, and the AI infrastructure supply chain.
- Proven ability to build and manipulate market models, applying techniques like time-series analysis, causal inference, and Monte Carlo simulation, with proficiency in SQL and BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Demonstrated history of building forward-looking scenario plans and using market insights to successfully influence and drive tangible changes in Go-to-Market strategies or Product Engineering roadmaps.
- Exceptional skill in translating deep, complex technical and financial analysis into clear, concise executive narratives and actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
- Experience in developing, maintaining, and owning the integrity of TAM, SAM, SOM models and workload-specific forecasts (e.g., AI, cloud tiers), including defining assumptions, sensitivities, and confidence intervals.
- Ability to develop comprehensive, evidence-based competitor dossiers and proactively project future engineering investments and technology inflections based on signals like hiring, OSS commits, financial filings, and standards participation.
- Experience in conducting decision-tree or Monte Carlo scenario planning for disruptive market events (e.g., supply chain shifts, cloud OEM pivots), defining leading indicators and act-now triggers for Product and Sales leadership.
- Ability to translate market insights into concrete proposals for product roadmaps, develop new sales strategies, and craft executive narratives used in high-level reviews and field enablement campaigns.
- Experience in establishing and governing Market Intelligence operating cadence, including defining the MI roadmap, quarterly deliverables, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for claims and data sourcing to ensure reproducibility and legal compliance.
- Deep market fluency with a substantial understanding of competitive and domain dynamics within enterprise infrastructure, specifically storage architectures, data services, cloud economics, and AI infrastructure supply chain.
- Proficiency in working from an in-office environment at the Santa Clara office, in compliance with company policies.
