Job Description
This role involves leading quality engineering efforts for FlashBlade storage systems, including defining and executing system tests, automating test cases, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring high product quality for enterprise data storage solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, refine, build, and maintain automated and manual test suites for FlashBlade to ensure enterprise readiness and high quality.
- Collaborate with developers, solution architects, and product managers to develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and automation scripts based on customer use cases.
- Execute system testing for new and existing features across multiple FlashBlade releases, ensuring validation of customer use cases.
- Review product requirements and design documents to inform testing strategies and coverage.
- Identify, analyze, and document defects discovered during testing, and work with support teams to reproduce and troubleshoot customer issues.
- Utilize system software tools and IO workload simulators to perform performance and stress testing of storage systems.
- Review and contribute to product design documentation and test plans, ensuring thorough testing coverage.
- Work within Agile, TDD, and CI environments to support continuous testing and integration efforts.
- Test and validate RESTful APIs and backend services related to the storage platform.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in software testing and test automation, preferably within an enterprise storage product environment either on-premise or cloud where Distributed Systems architecture is a key component.
- Experience working closely in flash storage is a big plus.
- Good knowledge of file systems, file system protocols, and data replication, including Read Write IOPs, Latency, Bandwidth, I/O datapath, NFS, SMB, S3, ACLs, networking layers switching, routing, VLANs, LACP LAGs, and replication specifics like lag time, RTO, RPO.
- Strong automation skills, with familiarity with automation tooling like pytest being a plus.
- Experience in customer use case driven system testing for FlashBlade, including defining and developing test plans, test cases, and automation to execute system testing for new and existing features over multiple releases.
- Ability to review and collaborate on product design documents and test plans, and competency in authoring detailed test plans.
- Experience working within Agile, Test-Driven Development, and Continuous Integration organizations.
- Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams to gather data to help with future automation project roadmaps.
- Experience in development and testing of RESTful web services and backend APIs.
- Ability to deploy and use third-party IO tools such as Load Dynamix, IOZone, fio, SpecFS, HCIBench to simulate IO test workloads as a supplement to real workloads.
- Experience collaborating with Developers, Solution Architects, and Product Managers to define and refine test coverage for use cases.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in software testing, test automation, or related fields.
