A Hardware Design Engineer responsible for developing, validating, and troubleshooting high-performance storage hardware, including SSDs, from concept to production, utilizing expertise in hardware design, bus technologies, and automation to innovate in the data storage industry.
Key Responsibilities
Lead hardware design, implementation, and debugging of SSD hardware from concept through production
Drive interoperability testing across server storage systems and SSDs
Diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues in collaboration with internal teams and external partners
Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations for field issues and customer escalations
Evaluate system-level trade-offs using bus technologies like PCIe, DDR, and NAND, and improve design and validation processes through automation and AI
Requirements
Extensive experience in hardware design and development, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection.
Proven experience in validating hardware at the electrical, signal integrity, protocol, and functional levels, with proficiency using high-speed oscilloscopes and differential probes.
Strong knowledge of major bus technologies such as PCIe, DDR, NAND, SPI, and I2C.
A strong background in using scripting languages, such as Python and BASH, to enhance design and validation processes.
Ability to lead hardware design from concept through production, including planning, implementation, and debugging of SSD hardware designs.
Experience in diagnosing and resolving hardware-related issues in collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and Joint Development Manufacturing (JDM) partners.
Experience in conducting failure analysis and root cause investigations to support field issues and customer escalations.
Ability to evaluate system-level trade-offs using knowledge of bus technologies like PCIe, DDR, and NAND.
Willingness to work primarily in an in-office environment at the Santa Clara office in accordance with company policies.
