This role involves leading the development and strategic management of firmware for high-performance all-flash storage solutions, overseeing project delivery, guiding hardware-software integration, and mentoring engineering teams in embedded systems and storage technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Define and execute the firmware strategy and roadmap for the Direct Flash Module (DFM).
Lead end-to-end project delivery of firmware development, managing resources and mitigating risks.
Cultivate high-performance engineering teams through coaching, performance management, and fostering innovation.
Guide the design and implementation of NAND media management policies and hardware interfaces to ensure system reliability and performance.
Requirements
Deep Technical Leadership in Embedded Systems with proven experience leading technical teams in embedded software development or firmware management for complex, high-performance systems.
Expertise in C and C++ programming languages, with extensive hands-on knowledge of embedded system architecture, firmware design principles, and proficiency in embedded development.
Strong understanding of hardware-software interactions within storage technologies, including SSD controllers and NAND flash media management.
Track record of successfully managing the full product development cycle (PDLC) using Agile or Scrum methodologies, with demonstrated ability to define scope, manage dependencies, and deliver projects on schedule.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively articulate complex technical strategies to cross-functional partners, including Hardware, Software, and Executive teams.
Ability to define and execute the firmware strategy, including owning the long-term product and feature roadmap for the Direct Flash Module (DFM) firmware, ensuring alignment with business objectives for performance, cost, and reliability.
Experience leading end-to-end project delivery, overseeing resource allocation, mitigating technical risks, and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery from concept through production release.
Experience cultivating high-performance engineering teams, managing team performance, conducting regular coaching sessions, and fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
Ability to guide the design and implementation of NAND media management policies and low-level hardware interfaces to ensure system-wide reliability and efficiency, including NAND media types such as QLC.
Willingness to work primarily in an in-office environment at the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with company policies, unless on PTO, work travel, or other approved leave.
