Job Description
The Manager of Trading Operations supports the execution, compliance, and management of trading activities for energy storage assets across North American power markets, ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory adherence, and effective cross-team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as liaison between Asset Operations, Performance, and Trading teams to coordinate updates, outages, and process improvements.
- Support compliance activities by preparing reports, maintaining methodologies, and monitoring regulatory changes.
- Represent the Trading team externally, develop presentation materials, and conduct market research to inform strategies.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials to ensure institutional knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, and technology teams to ensure regulatory adherence and effective communication.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in trading operations, energy markets, or compliance functions, preferably within the power or energy storage sector.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business discipline.
- Solid understanding of ERCOT and other North American Independent System Operators (ISOs), including day-ahead, real-time, and ancillary services market structures.
- Experience supporting regulatory reporting, compliance reviews, and working with legal and/or risk management teams to ensure adherence to ISO RTO protocols and internal policies.
- Familiarity with asset scheduling and operations, outage communication, and trade capture processes.
- Experience with trading databases or ETRM systems is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to reconcile data, monitor exposures, and support risk and profit and loss (P&L) reporting.
- Proficiency in SQL for querying and managing trading data.
- Experience with Python or similar scripting languages for process automation is preferred.
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence (BI) visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau for compliance and reporting dashboards.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), methodologies, and reporting frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise effectively across trading, legal, compliance, and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally in fast-paced environments with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in The Woodlands, Texas office at least three days per week to support cross-functional collaboration and effective team communication.
