Job Description

The Deputy General Counsel at Plus Power will lead legal support for real estate activities related to energy storage projects, including drafting agreements, managing site acquisitions, and supporting project financings, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

Represent Plus Power's Real Estate Team in legal matters related to project portfolio priorities.
Draft and negotiate real property agreements such as purchase and sale agreements, leases, easements, and crossing consents.
Support resolution of complex title and survey issues and oversee site acquisition closings.
Provide legal support for real estate aspects of project financings and tax equity investments.
Lead and mentor the Counsel, Real Estate, and oversee external counsel engagement.

Requirements

J.D. required
At least 2 - 3 years of experience within a top-tier law firm in a commercial real estate practice group
At least 3 - 5 years of experience supporting real estate efforts for utility scale renewable energy-related development
Extensive experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on purchase and sale agreements, option agreements, ground lease agreements, easements, amendments and other real property agreements
Strong experience in title and survey review, risk identification and risk resolution
Extensive experience in negotiating title insurance policies, in particular, with energy title policies secured for renewable energy and or energy storage projects
Deep experience supporting real estate matters in complex project financings
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical team members who are geographically dispersed
Strong presentation and writing skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Support legal drafting for site acquisition efforts, including option to purchase agreements, option to lease agreements, purchase and sale agreements, leases, easements, crossing consents, amendments and various other real property agreements
Support real estate de-risking activities and support the Real Estate Team in finding resolution to complex title and survey issues
Support the Real Estate Team in site acquisition closings
Support and collaborate with teams across Plus Power’s functional groups, including Development, Permitting, Interconnection, EPC, Finance, and Operations & Maintenance teams
Represent Plus Power’s Real Estate Team in project financings and tax equity investments
Lead and mentor the Counsel, Real Estate, empowering them to succeed and grow in their career
Select, engage and oversee local counsel and other external counsel
