Job Description

The Senior Analyst, International Trade Compliance at Planet is responsible for managing export-import regulations, licensing, and compliance processes to support the company's global satellite operations and sales, ensuring adherence to US government regulations and mitigating trade risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage export-import authorization requests to support international sales and operations.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of export-import licenses, including internal training, regulatory filings, and recordkeeping.
  • Conduct export-import training and provide guidance on compliance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Interface with U.S. government agencies to support trade compliance initiatives.
  • Interpret and apply US government export regulations such as ITAR and EAR.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to export-import compliance.
  • Review and approve international travel, foreign visit requests, and export/import transactions.
  • Review trade compliance terms in proposals and contracts, providing recommendations.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to document export classifications and assess new technology developments.
  • Prepare filings such as Commodity Jurisdiction Requests, Classification Requests, and Advisory Opinions.
  • Negotiate and resolve export-import control matters with stakeholders.
  • Support sanctions and anti-bribery compliance efforts, including analyzing sanctions implications and conducting due diligence.
  • Assist with compliance audits, assessments, investigations, and corrective actions.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years experience in international trade compliance, legal, or contracting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience reading and applying the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all deliverables.
  • Solid commitment to integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
  • Ability to influence and align stakeholders across multiple departments to drive results, even without direct reporting authority.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Access to export-controlled information without requiring additional export licensing, as employment or contracting is contingent upon this ability.
