The role involves developing and managing sales pipelines to expand Planet’s government intelligence, defense, and national security customer base in Southeast Asia, with a focus on closing large deals and building strategic relationships in the geospatial imagery sector.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage the sales pipeline to achieve or exceed sales targets in government markets
Identify, qualify, negotiate, and close sales deals with government and defense customers
Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, pre-sales, customer success) to support sales efforts and ensure customer satisfaction
Build and maintain relationships with government clients and partners across Southeast Asia
Navigate government procurement processes and manage contract negotiations
Conduct product demonstrations and communicate the value of Earth Observation imagery to government users
Maintain accurate pipeline data using CRM systems like Salesforce
Strategically develop opportunities and generate new leads within target government agencies
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or commensurate professional experience
Experience successfully finding and winning business with Government customers, such as the Tentara Nasional Indonesia, Armed Forces of the Philippines, an Intelligence account, or similar
Deep understanding of the value of commercial Earth Observation imagery in supporting the work of the Defense and Intelligence (D I) user
Excellent relationships across South East Asia Government and the partner ecosystem
Six (6) years of related experience in geospatial software, imagery or technical sales required along with a successful track record
Six (6) years of experience selling to government customers, including understanding the nuances of Government sales cycles and how to navigate through the process
Excellent communication skills
Ability to be self-motivated and work independently under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
Negotiation and persuasion skills
Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
Experience with Salesforce.com or a similar CRM System
Fluent in English, the working language of the company
Ability to travel up to 40% of the year
Ability to develop and manage a sales pipeline to achieve or exceed sales targets and goals
Ability to collaborate with sales, marketing, business development, pre-sales solution architects, and customer success teams
Ability to manage contracting and government procurement processes
Ability to provide product and sales demonstrations to prospective customers
Ability to forecast accurately when managing the incoming pipeline of opportunities
