The Strategic Account Manager role involves driving sales and developing strategic relationships with key accounts in the industrial automation sector, combining technical knowledge with interpersonal skills to grow revenue, expand product offerings, and support customer needs within a designated territory.
Key Responsibilities
Drive sales of Phoenix Contact products by developing and executing strategic account plans
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across management, procurement, engineering, and sales departments
Lead cross-functional teams to support account growth and customer satisfaction
Develop and implement strategic roadmaps and initiatives for assigned accounts
Conduct business reviews, analyze customer needs, and recommend corrective actions
Prepare proposals, presentations, and sales materials to support product sales
Utilize CRM systems for tracking, reporting, and managing customer interactions and sales activities
Deliver product demonstrations and technical presentations to customers
Qualify sales opportunities and follow up on quotations within strategic accounts
Collaborate with product teams to develop field presentations and application notes
Requirements
A four-year degree in a technical discipline preferred and/or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 5 years of sales experience in the electronics or industrial automation controls marketplace.
Experience working with distribution is preferred.
Excellent networking and influencing skills needed to communicate at all levels.
Exhibits high-level interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Successful history in achieving strategic and sales targets.
Self-motivated with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
Must be able to travel via airplane.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel via automobile for up to six hours at a time.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Must be able to travel overnight 20-25 nights as dictated by assigned territory.
Comply with company dress code guidelines.
Punctuality is required, with regular and on-time attendance.
