The Sales Engineer OEM role involves driving sales of Phoenix Contact products by combining technical knowledge with interpersonal skills, building customer relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and providing technical support throughout the sales process within the South Carolina territory.
Key Responsibilities
Drive sales of Phoenix Contact products within the assigned territory by meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
Identify new sales opportunities and develop relationships with existing and potential customers through ongoing communication and relationship-building.
Support the sales process by preparing proposals, presentations, and sales materials, and providing technical support.
Utilize CRM systems effectively to track customer interactions, report activities, and measure performance.
Deliver product presentations and hands-on demonstrations to promote product solutions and applications.
Qualify sales opportunities, follow up on quotations, and develop mutual action plans with customers.
Collaborate with internal teams, including Channel and Field Application Engineering, to ensure customer satisfaction and sales success.
Maintain technical knowledge of all Phoenix Contact products and solutions to effectively support customer needs.
Requirements
Must be able to travel via airplane and automobile for up to six hours at a time, including overnight travel as dictated by the assigned territory.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Must be able to demonstrate technical competence on all products and solutions within the area of focus.
Must have 1 to 3 years minimum sales experience in the electronics or industrial automation controls marketplace.
Experience working with distribution is preferred.
Self-motivated with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
Must be able to meet or exceed territory sales quotas as established by the RSM and/or Vice President Field Sales.
Must be proficient in BASE selling skills and implement them to build strong customer relationships.
Must generate new opportunities within assigned accounts through ongoing communication, relationship development, and collaboration with key stakeholders.
Must support the preparation of proposals, presentations, and sales materials.
Must maintain and update CRM systems with accurate client information and fully utilize the CRM as a communication, reporting, measurement, and tracking tool.
Must collaborate with the entire Phoenix Contact team to align efforts and effectively communicate both verbally and written.
Must track and report on business development activities and performance metrics.
Must differentiate Phoenix Contact from other component vendors by building partner relationships with customers.
Must focus on the customer by averaging a minimum of 16 to 20 sales calls per week.
Must proactively utilize all resources and sales tools provided to maximize productivity, responsiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Must work closely with Harrisburg Product teams to aid in the development of field presentations and application notes.
Must develop and maintain a working knowledge of all Phoenix Contact products and solutions.
Must qualify and follow up on all opportunities within the assigned account portfolio, including follow-up on all quotations.
Must demonstrate technical competence on all products and solutions within the area of focus.
Must develop and implement effective Mutual Action Plans with assigned customer locations, independently or in conjunction with regional management.
Must deliver presentations and hands-on demonstrations of Phoenix Contact products, applications, and technology for product sales.
Must comply with company dress code guidelines.
Must be punctual and maintain regular and on-time attendance.
