Job Description
The Field Application Engineer - Control Systems IIoT is responsible for developing sales opportunities and supporting the delivery of Phoenix Contact's IIoT solutions in automation and control systems, while also acting as a technical and sales leader within the assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop sales opportunities for Phoenix Contact control and HMI products into revenue-generating customers.
- Act as sales leader for Phoenix Contact's IIoT value proposition delivery to internal and external partners.
- Support creation and maintenance of the Phoenix Contact IIoT ecosystem, including cloud providers and software partners.
- Meet or exceed control and IIoT sales growth objectives.
- Develop and train channel partners and sales teams on IIoT solutions and value propositions.
- Maintain technical competence on product solutions within the area of focus.
- Manage and develop channel partners through joint sales activities, training, and mutual action plans.
- Implement global national account strategies in collaboration with key accounts and marketing.
- Utilize CRM and sales tools for customer planning, reporting, and opportunity tracking.
- Represent the company at industry associations, distributor, and customer events.
Requirements
- Four-year degree required, Engineering degree preferred.
- Strong understanding of industrial automation systems.
- Strong background in PLC programming and operation.
- High level language and Linux programming experience desired.
- Knowledge of cloud architecture as related to IIoT applications desired.
- Strong understanding of IIoT Industry 4.0 Smart Factory concepts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Phoenix Contact’s business solutions.
- Superior computer skills and proficiency in Windows-based applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Polished presentation skills.
- Track record of achieving higher than expected sales performance.
- Strong business development skills, including exceeding expectations of sales calls and opportunity creation.
- Experience in working with distributors preferred.
- Must be able to travel via airplane.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs (samples, demos, literature).
- Must be able to travel overnight 25-30 or as dictated by assigned territory.
- Must comply with company dress code guidelines.
- Must have regular and on-time attendance.
