Job Description

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth by acquiring new customers and developing strategic partnerships in vertical markets such as transportation, public safety, and energy, through sales, market research, and relationship management to enhance the company's market position and revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to acquire new customers and grow existing accounts in targeted vertical markets.
  • Identify, research, and pursue prospective accounts and leads within defined regions and markets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current clients and cross-silo internal teams to create value and generate revenue.
  • Articulate the company's mission, vision, and product offerings to internal and external stakeholders to support business growth.
  • Evaluate and refine partner relationships and market strategies to enhance market position and financial growth.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Ethernet networking technologies, industry competition, and vertical market dynamics.
  • Participate in industry events, professional organizations, and educational opportunities to improve job knowledge and network.
  • Manage and leverage CRM tools and other resources to track sales activities and customer information.
  • Travel as needed to meet clients, attend industry events, and support business development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or technical certification in industry area (a plus).
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a sales and/or business development role, with a proven record of accomplishment of winning new business.
  • Strong proficiency in CRM systems and MS Office back office applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to transfer knowledge accurately and succinctly across internal and external audiences.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to set and meet deadlines and company objectives.
  • Strong ability to triage priorities with a high level of attention to execution.
  • Strong understanding of Ethernet networking technologies and related vertical markets.
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 50% through the defined geography and business areas, including up to 8 hours via airplane and overnight travel.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel via automobile for up to six hours at a time.
  • Must be able to sit for 4 hours at a time.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to travel overnight.
  • Comply with company attendance and dress code policies and guidelines.
  • Regular and on-time attendance.
