Job Description
This role involves designing, integrating, and building electromechanical systems for a renewable ocean energy technology company, combining mechanical and electrical engineering skills to develop robust prototypes and production hardware in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical hardware using CAD for prototypes and production systems
- Integrate mechanical and electronic hardware into functional assemblies
- Assemble, test, and troubleshoot electromechanical systems
- Read and interpret mechanical and wiring diagrams to support builds
- Provide feedback on manufacturability and assembly for design improvements
- Create documentation detailing design, assembly, and testing processes
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineering teams to determine system requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering; relevant combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- Proficiency with CAD tools and mechanical design fundamentals
- Experience assembling electromechanical systems
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and wiring diagrams
- Skilled in the use of hand tools for basic part fabrication and assembly
- Hands-on experience with tools and techniques used in the electronics industry, including soldering irons, crimpers, multimeters, and related tools
- Physical ability to be on your feet for up to 8 hours per day and occasionally lift objects weighing 50 pounds or more
- Ability to work safely in elevated work areas, including ladders and platforms, using appropriate safety equipment
- Ability to work safely in confined spaces when required
- Willingness to support occasional deployment or field assignments and periodic travel or on-site work as needed for operational support
