This role involves designing, integrating, and building electromechanical systems for a renewable ocean energy technology company, combining mechanical and electrical engineering skills to develop robust prototypes and production hardware in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design mechanical hardware using CAD for prototypes and production systems
Integrate mechanical and electronic hardware into functional assemblies
Assemble, test, and troubleshoot electromechanical systems
Read and interpret mechanical and wiring diagrams to support builds
Provide feedback on manufacturability and assembly for design improvements
Create documentation detailing design, assembly, and testing processes
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineering teams to determine system requirements
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering; relevant combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
Proficiency with CAD tools and mechanical design fundamentals
Experience assembling electromechanical systems
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and wiring diagrams
Skilled in the use of hand tools for basic part fabrication and assembly
Hands-on experience with tools and techniques used in the electronics industry, including soldering irons, crimpers, multimeters, and related tools
Physical ability to be on your feet for up to 8 hours per day and occasionally lift objects weighing 50 pounds or more
Ability to work safely in elevated work areas, including ladders and platforms, using appropriate safety equipment
Ability to work safely in confined spaces when required
Willingness to support occasional deployment or field assignments and periodic travel or on-site work as needed for operational support
