Job Description
The role involves designing, integrating, and building electromechanical systems for a renewable ocean energy technology company, combining mechanical and electrical engineering tasks such as CAD design, assembly, testing, and documentation to develop robust and reliable hardware in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical hardware using CAD for prototypes and production systems
- Integrate mechanical and electronic hardware into functional assemblies
- Assemble, test, and troubleshoot electromechanical systems
- Read and interpret mechanical and wiring diagrams to support builds
- Provide feedback on manufacturability and assembly for design improvements
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineering teams to determine system requirements
- Create documentation detailing design and process steps for production
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Proficiency with CAD tools and mechanical design fundamentals.
- Experience assembling electromechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and wiring diagrams.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools for basic part fabrication and assembly.
- Hands-on experience with tools and techniques used in the electronics industry, including soldering irons, crimpers, multimeters, and related tools.
- Ability to work on your feet for up to 8 hours per day and occasionally lift objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Comfort working in elevated work areas, including ladders and platforms, while using appropriate safety equipment.
- Ability to work safely in confined spaces when required.
- Willingness and ability to support occasional deployment or field assignments, including periodic travel or on-site work as needed for operational support.
