The Solar Field Service Technician is responsible for onsite troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of residential solar systems, ensuring system performance and customer satisfaction throughout the system's lifespan.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair solar systems onsite
Document service visits and complete job closeout reports
Schedule site visits and coordinate with customers and field teams
Provide feedback to improve installation quality and customer experience
Assist with system closeout and pre-energization tasks
Perform site surveys, inspections, and document collection
Deliver quality service and installation work as the primary field representative
Communicate with homeowners regarding visit times and updates
Maintain service level agreements for site visits
Perform operations and maintenance support, including system monitoring
Conduct safety and quality audits, site inspections, and job closeout reviews
Perform field installations of PV, storage, and structural upgrades
Investigate damages and claims related to solar systems
Requirements
Electrical License only required in MA, a plus elsewhere
3 years of installing, repairing, and troubleshooting residential solar storage systems
General knowledge of residential home maintenance and repair, ability to go the extra mile in remediating customer issues beyond the scope of solar system maintenance
Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops and able to work on your feet for long periods of time
Ability to work in extreme environments such as hot sun, cold, rain, crawl spaces, etc.
Electrical experience is a plus
1 year of working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing repetitive duties such as lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time
Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the assigned workday
Ability to safely handle and maintain basic hand and power tools used for installation
Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor
Attention to detail
Regular, reliable and predictable attendance
Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
Must have a valid state driver’s license
Must have a clean driving record
