Job Description

A Senior Product Designer at Palmetto is responsible for creating exceptional user experiences for the company's marketplace platform, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, iterate, and implement product features, while maintaining and advancing the company's design system and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and iterate user experiences for marketplace customers, including homeowners, sales members, and partners.
  • Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and stakeholders to develop simple and effective product designs.
  • Lead the end-to-end design process for major features within Palmetto applications.
  • Maintain and develop the company's design system and design patterns.
  • Advocate for accessibility best practices and ensure design quality across projects.
  • Gather and incorporate user research, analytics, and feedback to inform design decisions.
  • Mentor and provide feedback to team members to foster successful design outcomes.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience designing and delivering web applications or products in cross-functional teams in tech companies or digital agencies.
  • Deep understanding of the product development process, from product thinking to visual and experience design, with a continuous focus on improving the process.
  • Prior experience in the e-commerce and/or logistics industry.
  • Excellent communication skills to help set up frameworks, visions, or outcomes, and to mentor others to deliver work that brings ideas to life.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to provide leadership and guidance to multiple projects with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to influence others and build consensus while effectively dealing with ambiguity.
  • Capability to produce results independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to ship designs to production.
  • Knowledge of and advocacy for accessibility best practices.
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS, and experience with JavaScript.
  • Experience using analytics, user research, user feedback, and other approaches to inform decision-making and iterate on products.
  • Strong talent for creating simple solutions to complex problems and a passion for design craft.
  • Ability to see and communicate how individual contributions connect to the team’s vision and the company's mission.
  • Willingness to contribute to moving projects forward regardless of task type.
  • Receptiveness to constructive feedback as part of the iterative design process.
  • Experience gathering and utilizing analytics and research data to inform design decisions and product strategy.
