Job Description

The Solar Field Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining residential solar systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction throughout the system's lifespan. The role involves onsite support, system inspections, and collaborating with teams to deliver high-quality service and installations.

Key Responsibilities

Provide onsite troubleshooting and repair of solar systems.
Document visits and complete job close out reports.
Schedule site visits and coordinate with local field teams and customers.
Assist with system closeout, pre-energization issues, and ensure projects are ready to generate power.
Support ongoing service needs and build strong customer relationships throughout the system's lifespan.
Perform site surveys, inspections, and document collection.
Deliver quality, experience, and performance in service and installation work.
Maintain service level agreements (SLAs) for site visits.
Perform operations, maintenance, and monitoring support.
Conduct safety and quality site audits, inspections, and reviews.
Perform field installations including PV, storage, and structural upgrades.
Investigate damages and claims related to solar systems.

Requirements

Electrical License only required in MA, a plus elsewhere
At least 3 years of experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting residential solar storage systems
General knowledge of residential home maintenance and repair, with the ability to go the extra mile in remediating customer issues beyond the scope of solar system maintenance
Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops, and work on your feet for long periods of time
Ability to work in extreme environments such as hot sun, cold, rain, crawl spaces, etc.
Electrical experience is a plus
At least 1 year of experience working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing repetitive duties such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time
Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the workday
Ability to safely handle and maintain basic hand and power tools used for installation
Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor
Attention to detail
Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
Must have a valid state driver’s license
Must have a clean driving record
