Job Description
The Solar Field Service Technician is responsible for onsite troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of residential solar systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction throughout the system's lifespan.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair solar systems onsite.
- Document service visits and complete job closeout reports.
- Schedule site visits and coordinate with local teams to optimize resolution times.
- Assist with system closeout, pre-energization issues, and ensure systems are ready to generate power.
- Provide feedback to improve installation quality and customer experience.
- Perform site surveys, inspections, and document collection.
- Deliver quality service and installation work as the primary field representative.
- Communicate with homeowners regarding arrival times and service confirmations.
- Maintain service level agreements for site visits.
- Perform operations and maintenance support, site surveys, and field installations.
- Conduct safety and quality audits, site inspections, and job closeout reviews.
- Support partner and internal field training.
- Investigate damages and claims related to solar systems.
Requirements
- Electrical License only required in MA, a plus elsewhere
- At least 3 years of experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting residential solar storage systems
- General knowledge of residential home maintenance and repair, with the ability to go the extra mile in remediating customer issues beyond the scope of solar system maintenance
- Must be willing and able to climb ladders, work on rooftops, and work on your feet for long periods of time
- Ability to work in extreme environments such as hot sun, cold, rain, crawl spaces, etc.
- Electrical experience is a plus
- At least 1 year of experience working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing repetitive duties such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the workday
- Ability to safely handle and maintain basic hand and power tools used for installation
- Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor
- Attention to detail
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
- Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
- Must have a valid state driver’s license
- Must have a clean driving record
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check
