Job Description

The Senior Associate in Capital Markets at Orenda is responsible for leading and managing energy project transactions, including M&A, project financing, and strategic deals, while coordinating with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful deal execution and long-term relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage end-to-end transactions including M&A and financing deals
  • Ensure timely execution of transaction milestones and deadlines
  • Prepare and lead the creation of Confidential Information Memorandums and lender presentations
  • Conduct financial modeling related to asset operations, project finance, and equity
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to gather and verify essential information
  • Review and ensure accuracy of all communicated information and third-party reports
  • Manage the closing process by overseeing the completion of all required objectives
  • Solve development-level issues and address unforeseen challenges in transactions
  • Supervise and mentor analysts to ensure high-quality work and professional growth

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, ideally in the areas of Finance, STEM, or a comparable path of study.
  • Five (5) years of experience with an investment bank, project finance lender, developer capital markets role, or tax equity investor.
  • Experience in one of the following areas: M A, project finance, or tax equity, with the expectation to master all three over time.
  • Active role in numerous live transactions, excluding portfolio management.
  • Superior competency in financial modeling of various types specifically related to asset-level operations, project finance, and equity, with the ability to deliver models with 100% accuracy.
  • Experience in transaction management leadership is strongly preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of power utilities, infrastructure, and/or oil and gas sectors is strongly preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) technology and markets is encouraged but not required.
  • Ability to coordinate with internal teams such as Project Origination, Project Execution, and Asset Management to deliver essential information to capital partners.
  • Ability to coordinate with external consultants including independent engineers, market consultants, tax advisors, and legal counsel to complete third-party reports and manage QA/QC review.
  • Complete understanding of all objectives required to close transactions and actively manage the completion of those objectives.
  • Willingness to problem-solve unforeseen issues and support development-level issues as needed.
  • Supervise and train analysts to ensure 100% accuracy in work products and their professional growth.
  • Ability to act as the deal-manager and point-person for transactions, taking full ownership of processes and responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for presentation deliverables, including leading the writing of Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs) and Lender Presentations.
  • Experience engaging in financial modeling directly and managing analyst work products related to asset-level operations, project finance, and equity.
  • Understanding of transaction closing processes and active management of closing checklist objectives.
  • Ability to work full-time in-office at Brooklyn, NY headquarters, five days a week.
