Job Description

The Finance Director at Octopus Energy Services will lead core finance functions, support strategic financial planning, and collaborate with senior leadership to drive growth and operational efficiency in a high-volume, low-carbon energy transition business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead core finance functions including Financial Management Accounting, Financial Operations, Financial Risk, and Pricing.
  • Support the Strategic Finance team in financial planning and analysis.
  • Partner with senior leaders across low carbon tech, flexibility, and manufacturing teams to align financial strategies.
  • Manage performance, planning, and development of the finance team.
  • Oversee operational aspects of finance related to high-volume energy deployment, supply chains, and depots.
  • Balance margin, cash flow, and unit economics to support rapid growth and scaling.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Finance Director (FD) with a proven track record in operational high volume businesses.
  • Ability to lead and manage core finance functions including Financial Management Accounting, Financial Operations, Financial Risk, and Pricing.
  • Experience supporting a Strategic Finance team in financial planning.
  • Ability to sit on a senior leadership team and report directly to the CEO.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders across low carbon tech teams, flexibility, and manufacturing sectors.
  • Ability to think like an owner and build for growth in a high complexity team.
  • Experience in investing into low carbon installations and creating market propositions for customers.
  • Proven ability to balance margin, cash flow, and scaling volume quickly while protecting unit economics as the business grows.
  • Experience leading a team of exceptional finance professionals and unlocking their full potential.
  • Operational experience managing engineers, supply chains, depots, and demand flexibility.
  • Comfortable challenging conventional thinking and managing operational demands across multiple sites and functions.
