Job Description
A Backend Engineer II at Octopus Energy will develop and maintain hardware products and the global mobile app, collaborating across teams to deliver innovative, high-impact solutions that support the company's mission to accelerate the green energy transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Octopus Energy's hardware products and features within the Devices team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve problems holistically across multiple products.
- Contribute to the development and support of the global mobile app for consumers.
- Implement good engineering practices and foster effective collaboration across multiple product teams.
Requirements
- Ability to work in the UK or in our London office (remote candidates considered but must be able to work in the UK).
- Proficiency in backend development with a strong understanding of developing and maintaining hardware products and features.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including disciplines such as product and design, to solve problems holistically across multiple products.
- Ability to define and follow good engineering practices for the team as a whole.
- Experience working in an agile, open culture that fosters innovation, flexibility, and creativity.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple product teams and contribute to a collaborative working environment.
- Demonstrated ownership and responsibility for high-impact work related to driving the global shift to clean, smart energy.
