Job Description
A Software Engineer specializing in Behavior Verification at Nuro will develop and validate fault response systems for autonomous vehicles, ensuring safety and reliability through system-level analysis, testing, and performance assessment of autonomous driving software.
Key Responsibilities
- Define system-level behavior requirements for fault response in autonomous driving systems.
- Develop metrics and validation tools to assess requirement violations and system safety.
- Conduct system-level stress testing and validation of autonomy software from modules to overall architecture.
- Analyze failure modes and inter-dependencies within the autonomy architecture to inform fault response strategies.
- Collaborate with development teams to extract performance indicators and automate evaluation of system issues.
- Contribute to maintaining and improving fault-centric architecture and safety frameworks for autonomous systems.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of technical work experience in robotics software or a relevant area.
- Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree candidate in Computer Science, Math, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong programming and algorithmic problem solving skills in Python or C/C++.
- Experience working in a team with strong software engineering practices.
- Highly collaborative with strong abilities to think and communicate analytically and effectively.
- Self-starter and fast learner with a passion for picking up new skills and approaching unstructured problems from first principles.
- At least 2 years of experience in multiple of the following areas: software development in task level or behavior level robotics planning; developing ML-based or heuristic-based evaluation methods to assess system performance; analyzing and managing FDIR fault detection, isolation, recovery for the software stack on semi-autonomous or autonomous vehicles or equipment; defining requirements using data-driven and first-principle techniques; implementing test coverage for requirements; adaptive stress testing or probabilistic software diagnostics.
