Job Description
A Senior Staff Software Engineer responsible for developing and implementing safety metrics to evaluate and verify the driving behavior of autonomous vehicles, ensuring their safe deployment within specified operational domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement metrics to verify autonomous vehicle driving behavior
- Leverage machine learning models and safety literature to evaluate driving behavior
- Evaluate metrics using synthetic tests, simulation logs, on-road data, and accident reconstructions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop acceptance criteria for metrics and tests
- Set up automated verification workflows in collaboration with simulation and test teams
- Generate performance and validation reports to demonstrate safety of autonomous system in target ODD
Requirements
- 5 years of technical work experience in a relevant area with 3 years of experience with software development
- Hands-on software experience, with the ability to code proficiently in Python or C
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, or related field
- Strong understanding of robotic systems architecture - how sensing, localization, perception, prediction, behavior, and control modules interact
- Familiarity with simulation and real-world testing of autonomous systems
