Job Description
The Software Engineer II at Aurora will develop and enhance simulation tools and systems for autonomous vehicle behavior testing, focusing on creating realistic actor behaviors and infrastructure for motion planning simulations using C and Python. The role involves working on complex simulation engines across various aspects of autonomous driving technology, contributing to safety and efficiency in mobility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop simulation software using C 17 and Python following modern best practices
- Design and develop simulation and offline testing engines and tools
- Create and extend software for world entities, behavior modeling, pathfinding, and collision detection
- Contribute to engineering best practices on a large, complex codebase
- Tackle end-to-end simulation and behavior evaluation challenges across autonomy system components such as motion planning, mapping, and localization
Requirements
- Develop software in standard C 17 and Python, using modern best practices.
- Have good development skills in C, including modern C 11, 14, 17, 20.
- Understand common software performance issues and design tradeoffs.
- Possess a BS or higher degree in robotics, computer science, software development, mathematics, or a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
