Job Description
The role involves leading the development and management of Nuro's large-scale ML infrastructure platform, focusing on resource provisioning, workload orchestration, data processing, and team leadership to support autonomous vehicle research and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and evolution of the core ML infrastructure platform, including resource provisioning, workload orchestration, and feature management.
- Define the technical strategy and roadmap for a unified ML platform that abstracts complex cloud infrastructure.
- Scale and manage automated infrastructure-as-code pipelines for diverse compute environments.
- Design and optimize workload scheduling to maximize hardware utilization and reduce job wait times.
- Develop robust ETL pipelines for extracting and transforming large-scale sensor and telemetry data.
- Implement feature caching and storage solutions to enable low-latency access to features and reduce redundant computations.
- Mentor and lead a team of engineers, fostering operational excellence and innovation.
Requirements
- 6 years of professional experience in ML Infrastructure, Backend Platform Engineering, or Distributed Systems
- At least 3 years of people team management experience
- Deep familiarity with modern Infrastructure-as-Code and provisioning tools e.g., Terraform, Pulumi, or Crossplane
- Hands-on experience building or managing large-scale orchestrators for compute-heavy workloads e.g., Kubernetes, KubeRay, Ray, Slurm, or Volcano
- Proven expertise in large-scale data extraction and transformation, with proficiency in at least one distributed processing framework such as Apache Spark or Apache Beam
- Experience implementing or maintaining feature stores and caching layers e.g., Feast, Hopsworks, or Redis-based custom caching
