Job Description
A Software Engineer role focused on developing and integrating sensor calibration and state estimation algorithms using machine learning and robotics techniques to enhance autonomous vehicle systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and develop state estimation and calibration algorithms combining robotics and machine learning techniques
- Analyze and evaluate the accuracy and performance of calibration algorithms
- Integrate calibration and state estimation pipelines into the autonomy system and monitor onboard performance
- Collaborate with other teams to improve ML training and end-to-end system performance
- Address critical questions related to sensor data quality and autonomy system performance
Requirements
- A PhD in machine learning, computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field, and 3 years of industry experience.
- Or a Master's degree and 4 years of industry experience.
- Or 5 years of industry experience.
- Deep understanding of ML fundamentals with hands-on experience in training and evaluating modern ML models.
- Strong Python skills with experience in deep learning frameworks, e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Jax.
- Experience in research, development, and implementation of machine learning methods with sensor data such as IMU, camera, lidar, radar, etc.
- Experience in developing online and offline unstructured targetless sensor calibration algorithms.
- Experience with classical state estimation techniques, non-linear least-squares optimization, and lie algebra is a bonus.
- Experience in analyzing and characterizing the accuracy and performance of state estimation and calibration algorithms.
- Ability to integrate state estimation and calibration pipelines into the autonomy system and analyze onboard performance and resource utilization.
- Experience working cross-functionally with other autonomy teams to accelerate training of ML models and evaluate end-to-end performance.
- Ability to answer critical questions about sensor data and autonomy performance.
- Proficiency in systems coding.
- Experience in building offline and online state estimation and calibration algorithms with sensors such as camera, lidar, radar, IMU.
- Experience in simulating and modeling real sensors including noise modeling.
- Experience in building ML pipelines and optimizing ML models for productization.
