Job Description
The role involves designing and developing sensor and compute systems for autonomous vehicles, including hardware integration, software development, debugging, and cross-functional project leadership to enhance the reliability and performance of self-driving robots.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop sensor and compute systems for robotics
- Architect and deploy sensor and software on embedded SOCs with high reliability and performance
- Monitor system metrics, automate testing, and collaborate with vendors to ensure reliable software
- Debug complex embedded and real-time systems to identify and resolve failure modes
- Lead cross-functional projects related to sensors and compute for autonomous vehicles
- Mentor software engineers to enhance their skills and capabilities
Requirements
- Six (6) years of experience with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field
- Four (4) years of experience with a Ph.D. degree
- Proven ability to deep dive into complex embedded and real-time systems
- Strong proficiency in C, with emphasis on concurrency system software development
- Experience in designing and developing sensor and compute systems for robotics
- Experience in architecting or deploying Nuro sensors and autonomous software with high reliability and performance on embedded SOCs
- Ability to deliver reliable software through metrics monitoring, automated testing, and vendor collaboration
- Ability to debug complex systems, root-cause failure modes, and deploy effective solutions
- Experience leading cross-functional projects on sensors and compute for autonomous vehicles
- Experience mentoring software engineers to bring them to their full potential
- Clear and concise communication skills and effective collaboration with engineers, PMs, and other stakeholders
