The role involves leading the mechanical design and development of autonomous vehicle hardware, overseeing engineering teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of mechanical systems for self-driving technology at Nuro.
Key Responsibilities
Research, design, and deliver autonomous hardware solutions, including electronics and sensor packaging
Manage the full product lifecycle from prototype development to production ramp
Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, software, planning, procurement, and manufacturing teams
Own and support the industrialization and manufacturing of mechanical systems and modules
Lead and develop a large engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability and technical rigor
Requirements
B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
Professional engineering experience of 8 years, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing teams.
Demonstrated excellence in mechanical design and delivering complex mechanical products at low and high volumes.
Experience with automotive or consumer electronics product cycles, including qualification, validation, and high-volume manufacturing.
A strong communicator that can interact with working level engineers, internal leadership, and key external suppliers to advocate on behalf of mechanical design to produce the best possible product.
Proven ability to recruit, mentor, and scale a world-class engineering organization.
Self-starter with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and project management skills.
Relentlessly resourceful, with a bias towards action.
